Sunday is the most hectic day for the Tournament Committee. On Sunday the Boys and Girls Qualies are finalized, players are processed by the Committee for registration fees and hospitality, and the Boys and Girls Main Draws are prepared at the end of the day and uploaded to this website, along with the order of play for Monday. A historical note: before internet the draws were prepared manually following strict ITF protocols which were witnessed by at least 2 players, using poker chips with numbers that would be drawn at random to determine positioning in the draw. This could easily take one hour for each draw. Today, the ITF computer programs perform these functions instantaneously. Times change.
The third round Qualies have been tough matches. Three of the four Boys matches went to 3 sets, and the final 4 boys who win their way into the Main Draw are Daniel MALACEK (ranking of 360), Sean GROSMAN (190), and William MCEWAN (313) all of USA and Mikaeel ALI BAIG (273) of Pakistan. The Girls second round matches were all defined in straight sets, but the third round, played in the late afternoon, saw 3 of 4 matches going to 3 sets. The 4 girls who have won their way into the Main Draw from the Qualy are: Aoi WATANABE of Japan ranked 310, Daniela Britton of Great Britain (of course) ranked 209, and Hannah AYRAULT (342) and Teaghan KEYS (454) both from USA.
On to the Main Draw!
